Transportation Funding Bill Passes Legislative Committee
Thursday, February 19th, 2015
A bill raising more than $1 billion a year in new transportation funding in Georgia by 2020 cleared a legislative committee Wednesday with changes aimed at concerns of local governments and school systems.
The state House of Representatives Transportation Committee approved a substitute version of legislation that would replace the state sales tax on gasoline with an excise tax of 29.2 cents per gallon, a rate that would be adjusted for inflation.
