Today, American Builders 2017 entered into a partnership agreement with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Georgia Tech Research Institute and Associated General Contractors of Georgia. The partnership aims to enhance jobsite safety on the SunTrust Park project and educate workers about health and safety best practices.

Based on several other successful project partnerships with OSHA, the construction team for American Builders 2017 believed the Strategic Partnership Program would benefit SunTrust Park as well as OSHA and its partners.

“In our experience, partnering with OSHA provides the project with additional expertise and supervision, ensuring that our team takes every measure possible to create a safe site and sound facility,” said Lisa Capicik, Safety Director, American Builders 2017. “It requires extensive planning, detailed coordination and ongoing vigilance at every level to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.”

The Strategic Partnership Program offers employers, workers, professional and trade associations, labor organizations and other stakeholders guidance in developing safety goals, implementing effective strategies and measuring performance. Throughout the course of SunTrust Park’s construction, OSHA will collaborate with the American Builders 2017 team and their subcontractors to evaluate safety and health protocols and procedures, helping them to implement best practices on the project. Also, OSHA will visit the site to review and provide feedback on performance.

Georgia Tech Research Institute and AGC Georgia will also be involved in the program. This OSHA partnership is AGC Georgia’s first as a signatory participant.

American Builders 2017 broke ground on SunTrust Park in August 2014. The project is expected to be completed in spring 2017.
