FHLBank Atlanta Names Sharon Cook Chief Marketing Officer

Sharon Cook oversees the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta’s Marketing, Corporate Communications, and Public Relations functions. In her role, Cook directs Marketing and Brand Cultivation, External Communications, Media Relations, Investor Relations, and Reputational Risk, for the regional banker’s bank.
Cook joined FHLBank Atlanta in 2008 as Senior Marketing Communications Manager and earned promotions to Vice President and Director of Corporate Communications in 2011, First Vice President in 2012, and assumed her current role as First Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer in 2015. Previously, Cook was Vice President of Marketing Services for the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Federal Credit Union.
With more than 15 years of experience in financial services, Cook is also a regarded expert in reputation risk management. She often speaks to banking organizations, including at the Georgia Bankers Association’s Women in Banking Conference and the Virginia Bankers Association’s Banking and Marketing Conference, about how to build a crisis team and the pivotal roles community relationships and a social and traditional media presence plays in crisis plans.
Cook has served on the National Housing Conference, Communications Committee, in Washington, D.C., since 2008. She also serves on the Council of Federal Home Loan Banks, Communications Officers Committee. Cook also previously served as the President of the Georgia Marketing Council for Credit Unions.
As an active volunteer in the community, Cook often engages in initiatives related to leadership, women and mentoring. She serves on the Georgia Leadership Council for the Arthritis Foundation. She is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Partnership against Domestic Violence and she Chaired the Marketing and Publicity Committee for the 25th Annual Hearts with Hope Gala.
Cook earned a Bachelor of Arts and Science in Communications and Marketing from Georgia State University, and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Leadership Development, from Brenau University.
