Pacesetter Awarded Prestigious Certification from WBENC
Press release from the issuing company
Monday, March 9th, 2015
Pacesetter Steel Service, Inc., the unprecedented leader in innovative solutions in the steel industry, today announced that it has received national certification as a Women's Business Enterprise by the Women's Business Enterprise National Council, making it one of largest companies in the steel industry to receive this prestigious distinction.
WBENC's national standard of certification is a rigorous process that includes an in-depth review of the business and its legal and financial documents, as well as an in-depth site inspection. The certification process confirms that the business is at least 51% owned, operated and controlled by a woman or women.
Pacesetter began the certification process following the announcement of Aviva Leebow's accession as the new CEO in September 2014.
Certification helps other companies foster diversity
Unique among steel companies, Pacesetter's new status helps other companies achieve supplier and vendor diversity objectives by providing a WBENC-certified Steel Service Center with whom they can partner. By including women business enterprises among their suppliers, corporations and government agencies demonstrate their commitment to fostering diversity.
"At Pacesetter, we have a shared vision of leading the industry in innovation and becoming a genuinely collaborative partner with our customers, our suppliers and our community," said Aviva Leebow. "Our certification will allow us to add even more value to our current customers, helping them reach new markets and their supplier diversity initiatives."
"Pacesetter Steel Service has been a true partner to Daikin Applied for over 20 years," says Dave Dickirson, Sr. Director of Purchasing and Logistics at Daikin Applied. "This certification supports Daikin Applied in achieving our supplier diversity goals and exemplifies how Pacesetter continues to find new ways to drive uncommon value for our company."
