Georgia Transmission Corporation Re-Elects Board Officers and Directors

The Georgia Transmission Corporation board of directors re-elected officers at its recent board meeting. Three officers will serve one-year terms: chairman – Charles Fendley, who is also chairman of the board at Amicalola EMC; vice chairman – Steve E. Rawl, who is first vice president of Okefenoke Rural EMC, and secretary-treasurer – Otis P. Jones, who is also chairman of the board for Jackson EMC.

In addition, five directors – Raphael Brumbeloe, member at-large director, Everett Williams, scheduling member group 1 member director, Gary Drake, scheduling member group 1 manager director, Michael Goodroe, scheduling member group 3 manager director and Jill Tietjen, outside director – were re-elected at the annual meeting of members held in conjunction with the GTC board meeting.

Georgia Transmission, a not-for-profit electric cooperative owned by 38 Electric Membership Corporations (EMCs), owns more than 3,000 miles of high-voltage transmission lines and more than 600 substations. These facilities deliver power to Georgia’s EMCs, which serve nearly 50 percent of Georgia’s population (4.5 million).  

Since its inception 19 years ago, GTC has:

  • Completed more than 2,900 transmission projects, including 791 miles of transmission lines, 228 substations and its first two solar generation interconnections;

  • Improved reliability and achieved record low numbers for both the frequency and duration of power outages;

  • Earned “best place to work” designations from Georgia Trend magazine and the Atlanta Business Chronicle; and

  • Achieved 100 percent compliance with federal mandatory reliability standards.
