Brasfield & Gorrie today announced that the company has been recognized by the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) South Atlantic Chapter. During an awards banquet in Atlanta, Georgia, the contractor earned a Project Achievement award in recognition of excellence in the construction of a new $20.3 million state-of-the art commercial data center for C Spire, a Mississippi-based telecommunications and technology services company.

Despite nearly a month of weather delays, Brasfield & Gorrie completed construction of this Tier III+ data center—one of only 52 worldwide—in Starkville, Mississippi, five weeks early with the help of a stage-and-gate project delivery framework.

“The Brasfield & Gorrie staff consistently demonstrated expert knowledge, customer focus and professionalism in building our new 23,800 square foot advanced technology facility ahead of schedule and on budget,” said C Spire COO Kevin Hankins. “This is well-deserved recognition for their efforts.”’

In addition to the award from CMAA South Atlanta Chapter, this design-build project also earned two national Excellence in Construction awards from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), including a first-place Eagle award and a Productivity award. Additionally, the project earned accolades from the Alabama and Mississippi chapters of ABC.

Serving as design-builder, Brasfield & Gorrie partnered with architects Dale & Associates and Pieper O'Brien Herr Architects as well as engineer Syska Hennessy Group on this project for C Spire.
