The Junior League of Atlanta, Inc. Announces 2020 – 2021 Board of Directors

Staff Report

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2020

The Junior League of Atlanta, Inc. (JLA) today announced its new President, Bre West, and Board of Directors for the 2020 – 2021 league year. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, which has significantly impacted many JLA community partners and members, this year’s board is planning to find creative ways league members can serve and make a “Community Impact Through Collective Service.”

"When I think of our newly minted call to action, 'Community Impact Through Collective Service,' I'm proud to have such a bold statement reinforcing the dedication of the 2,800-plus women in the JLA who want to make a positive difference in the lives of our community members in need," said newly appointed President Bre West, a dedicated JLA member since 2008. "It's through collective service that we can move the needle on issues that continue to affect our city, especially within JLA's dedicated focus areas: human trafficking, generational poverty and early childhood education."

As JLA continues service in adherence to local guidelines, this year's organizational footprint will undoubtedly look different from its 104-year history of serving the Atlanta community.

"While we recognize the very real effects the pandemic has had on our local nonprofit partners, ensuring our members feel welcome and safe to serve in the community is top of mind right now," said West. "Our members are the cornerstone of the organization and enable us to enact our mission that focuses on effective action. With that in mind, it's also important that we keep mental health as a priority and offer more flexible ways to serve."

Joining Ms. West, the 2020 – 2021 Board of Directors includes a diverse and talented set of civic leaders and professionals who will guide the organization over the next 12 months.
