Suburban Office Space Makes Up 71% of the Atlanta Market

Suburban office space has seen increasing demand in the past years, a trend which has only been amplified by the current pandemic, as companies are looking for offices in lower-density areas until a safe return to normal is possible. Consequently, CommercialCafe conducted a study to see which markets stand out in terms of total suburban office space and which areas saw the most office development in lower-density areas in the last 10 years.

Here are some of the highlights:

  • The Atlanta market features 146.2 million square feet of suburban office space, representing 71% out of the total office inventory.

  • Suburban office properties amounted to 62% of Atlanta’s deliveries in the past 10 years.

  • Atlanta’s largest submarket by suburban office space is Central Perimeter, with 31.2 million square feet.

  • The Central Perimeter submarket also grew its suburban office inventory the most in the last 10 years, adding 2.9 million square feet of new space.
