Medical Association of Atlanta Names Dr. Randy Rizor as President

Dr. Randy Rizor, president of The Physicians Spine & Rehabilitation Specialists in Atlanta, was recently selected by his peers to serve as president of the board of directors of the Medical Association of Atlanta. Established in 1854, the Medical Association of Atlanta promotes the health and safety of the community through physician leadership.

Prior to being elected president, Dr. Rizor served as president-elect of the association.

Joining Dr. Rizor on the board are Ali Rahimi, M.D., president-elect; Fonda Mitchell, M.D., treasurer and John A. Johnson, M.D., secretary. Deborah, Martin, M.D., immediate past –president serves as board chair.

Dr. Rizor graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine and received his doctor of medicine degree from the Medical College of Ohio. He completed a residency in anesthesiology at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Dr. Rizor is board certified in anesthesiology with added qualification in pain management given by the American Board of Anesthesiology.

Dr. Rizor is a member of the Chairman’s Advisory Council of the Georgia State Board of Workers’ Compensation. In addition to his Medical Association of Atlanta duties, he serves on the board of directors of the Medical Association of Georgia and the Georgia Medical Political Action Committee (GAMPAC).

In response to the events of September 11, 2001, Dr. Rizor volunteered to join the United States Army Reserve Medical Corps. He currently holds the rank of colonel. He has served on active duty in Kosovo in 2004, and in Iraq in 2007-08 and 2011.  In 2019, Dr. Rizor received the Jack A. Raines Humanitarian Award presented by the Medical Association of Georgia.
