Paint Love Prepares for Third Installment of its Virtual Artist Challenge Fundraiser

Staff Report

Thursday, August 20th, 2020

Paint Love, Inc., an Atlanta-based nonprofit with a mission of bringing extraordinary arts programming to youth facing poverty and trauma, will host the third installment of its fifth annual Artist Challenge fundraiser this Saturday, August 22, from 3-6 p.m.

Traditionally a live experience held in the spring, this year the fundraiser was divided into three separate fundraisers hosted virtually via Facebook Live due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Three local artists will race against the clock to complete a painting in just three hours. Their completed artwork will then be available for auction through the following day. This round’s artists include Charmaine Minniefield, Julio Ceballos and AP Faust.

Fundraiser attendees are challenged to donate to help artists “unlock” the supplies needed to finish the artwork during the three hour live stream. This round will be moderated by Emcee Mista Funn, who provides check-in interviews with the artists throughout the competition. Viewers will also have a chance to hear live music from Jared and Amber Humphries and participate in Mind Mapping led by Cindy Robinson of The Kid Factory.

All donations from the event will support Paint Love’s youth programming and will help bring hundreds of hours of art to more than 2,000 Atlanta area students in 2020. Paint Love’s programming engages youth who have experienced a range of trauma and provides creative experiences to empower them to imagine a future not limited by any adversity.
