Atlanta & Woman-Owned Art Gallery Representing Work by Southeastern Film Industry Artists
Tuesday, September 29th, 2020
Frame Worthy Gallery, the first-of-its-kind art gallery for interdisciplinary artists, will launch its online marketplace on November 2, 2020. Created during the COVID-19 crisis to support local artists, Frame Worthy represents two-dimensional artwork made by multifaceted film and television industry artists who have talent that extends beyond the big screen. These painters, photographers, sketch, and multimedia artists are also actors, screenwriters, directors, talent agents, and producers, working primarily in the Southeast.
Frame Worthy Gallery aims to support the Southeast’s rapidly growing art scene by helping create new opportunities for artists to increase exposure and bring in more revenue.
“I really wanted to change the notion of the struggling artist––the belief that pursuing a career in the arts means you’re signing up for a life of financial insecurity,” said Morgan Wellens, founder and CEO of Frame Worthy Gallery. “Artists touch every aspect of our lives. Every item you own, the ads you see, virtually everything we consume has been impacted in some way by the arts. I believe an artist’s life should be financially sustainable, just like any other career path.”
Frame Worthy Gallery will have an online presence as well as pop-up locations throughout the Atlanta area. The flagship in-store presence will be located inside RoleCallTheater at Ponce City Market. One of Frame Worthy Gallery’s core goals is promoting community. Both the artistic community and helping those in need through the arts. For the artists they represent, Frame Worthy will provide a platform to showcase their work and provide additional income to make their life as an artist more financially sustainable. It will also serve as a network and a resource to connect artists in the Southeast. Through storytelling, they aim to showcase who their team is as artists and humans.
"The grind is real when you make the decision to become an artist for a living,” said Wellens. “Working restaurant jobs, gigs, driving services, you name it. If you are an artist, there's a good chance you're hustling. My goal is to help our team follow their dreams within the industry by taking over the "left-brain" work so they can focus on the creative stuff.”
