Georgia Power Employees Build Little Free Libraries

The Metro East chapter of Georgia Power’s volunteer service origination, Citizens of Georgia Power recently partnered with Initiative for Affordable Housing, Inc. to build and paint five Little Free Libraries for properties associated with affordable housing.
Chapter member also donated school supplies children that live in the affordable housing program.
Little Free Library is a nonprofit organization that inspires a love of reading, builds community, and sparks creativity by fostering neighborhood book exchanges around the world. Through Little Free Library book exchanges, millions of books are exchanged each year, profoundly increasing access to books for readers of all ages and backgrounds.
The members of Citizens of Georgia Power understand literacy skills are the foundation for academic success in the classroom regardless of grade level or field of study. The Little Free Libraries will help provide fundamental building blocks for academic success for school age children, and books for adults who love to read also.
Citizens of Georgia Power is the employee volunteer arm of Georgia Power Company. With 42 chapters statewide and more than 3,400 members, consisting of employees and their spouses, volunteers contributed more than 143,000 hours equal to $3.5 million in 2019.
