Due to overwhelming community response, the Atlanta Children's Shelter (ACS) matched more than 150 families facing homelessness with sponsors for its annual Holiday House event. ACS pivoted to an adopt-a-family model this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nearly 500 children will have a brighter Christmas thanks to more than 100 sponsors. The holidays for children and families facing homelessness can be challenging, especially during these unprecedented times, but thanks to partnering corporations, community groups, and individuals, ACS is sharing the spirit of the season with those in need.
"Due to the generosity of our partners and the outpouring of kindness from our sponsors, the Atlanta Children's Shelter can continue with its annual holiday celebration, and we hope that this event encourages others to pass on the same love and humanity that our sponsors and community have shown us this holiday season," says Mellony Gaston, Director of Social Services. "We are overjoyed to participate in what most children would say is the best time of the year! Regardless of the state of the world, the Atlanta Children's Shelter is thrilled to bring smiles to the faces of hundreds of children by way of dedicated sponsors."
