The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta thanks its devoted Board of Directors for multi-year commitments to board service and voluntary commitment of time, talent and treasure to ensure the Atlanta metropolitan region thrives.

The cohort rolling off board service as of December 31, 2020 includes Patrice Greer, Jeff Muir, John Reid, Dave Stockert and Ramon Tomé. During their numerous years of service, these volunteers led committees, shaped governance, improved philanthropic processes, launched the Southeast’s first impact investing fund, served on the search committee for the Foundation’s new CEO and participated in grant-making programs for the Greater Atlanta COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund. Reid served three years, from 2016-2018, as Board Chair.

“We’ll never be able to completely articulate the value their insights provided to us,” commented Frank Fernandez, president and chief executive officer of the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta. “These Board members have been making an impact as devoted servant leaders with us for years, and especially in the last two years their leadership guided the Foundation to formalize its commitment to bridging the equity gap in our region. Since March, it has truly been all hands on deck as we worked to raise and deploy $25 million dollars to nonprofits on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. These Board members jumped in and haven’t stopped working for the lives of their fellow Atlantans. It’s a testament to who we can be as a region.”

As these five members rotate off active board service, the Community Foundation confirms seven diverse board members who will officially join in January of 2021. Those are:

Each will serve a three-year term with an option to renew for a second term.

Greg Vaughn, M.D., who chairs the Governance Committee of the Board of Directors, reflected on this cohort, “This new group of Board leaders reflects the very heart of our mission – as well as being trusted resources for growing philanthropy to improve communities throughout the region. We look forward to working alongside them toward an equitable metro Atlanta.”

“These seven leaders speak to our shared commitment to build an equitable community. As a Community Foundation, it is imperative that our Board of Directors reflect diverse aspects of our region. I’m thrilled to welcome each of these new Board members and their unique experiences and perspectives,” said Susan Grant, Board Chair.

Detailed information about the seven new members of the Board of Directors will be available on the Foundation’s website in mid-January. The complete list of the current 2020 Community Foundation’s Board of Directors with their full biographies can be found here.
