Danita Godwin named Georgia Power’s Atlanta/Metro South External Affairs Manager

Georgia Power has named Danita Godwin as the Atlanta/Metro South External Affairs Manager, effective Saturday, December 12.
As the Atlanta/Metro South External Affairs Manager, Danita will support all external engagement across the territory and will be directly responsible for the South Fulton communities, serving as the liaison with key community leaders, elected officials and key decision makers.
She will also be the direct operational contact for the City of Atlanta, responsible for monitoring all City of Atlanta proceedings, as well as coordinating and communicating with Georgia Power individuals and departments that interface with the City of Atlanta.
Danita began her career at Georgia Power in 2006 as an Engineer Co-Op in Community and Economic Development and has since served in several organizations, including distribution, lighting, and sales and marketing. Most recently, Danita served as a Project Manager, partnering to implement the company’s sales and product growth strategies, including net income growth and product portfolio within Lighting and Smart Services, Utility Services, and Business Operations.
In the community, Danita has been involved in multiple professional and community affiliations, including Hands On Atlanta, the National Society of Black Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, and MUST Ministries. She is also an active leader of VOICE, Georgia Power’s African American employee resource group (ERG). Danita earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering Technology.
