Georgia Power Continues Annual Support of Atlanta Police Foundation
Monday, December 14th, 2020
Georgia Power is continuing its support of the Atlanta Police Foundation (APF) with a $15,000 donation to their 2021 fund. Georgia Power has supported APF in the past, including the presentation of a $500,000 gift to help fund the operating costs of the At-Promise Youth Center on the city’s Westside and a donation of $900,000 donation to benefit the Atlanta Police Department (APD) to purchase tactical body armor including bulletproof vests and helmets in 2016.
Additionally, Georgia Power has partnered with APF on “Operation Shield,” a partnership to provide Georgia Power SiteView cameras in neighborhoods across the city. To date, there are more than 10,600 cameras across the city and crime is down up to 50 percent in areas where cameras are installed.
The Atlanta Police Foundation was established in 2003 to provide vital support to the Mayor, the Chief of Police and the Atlanta Police Department. The organization is based on a public-private partnership model that has worked to secure and leverage private resources to fund high priority projects designed to enhance the City of Atlanta’s ability to fight and prevent crime.
