Georgia Power Provides Equipment to Dad’s Garage Theatre Company to Support Social Injustice Productions

Monday, January 11th, 2021

Georgia Power recently provided a donation to Dad’s Garage Theatre Company in the Old Fourth Ward neighborhood of Atlanta to support their production of social injustice comedies. The donation will be used to furnish their artists with computers, cameras, microphones, lights and green screens to produce their theatre work safely during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Through their upcoming social injustice series production, “Black Nerd,” artists are helping to evolve stereotypes in support of a more inclusive community.

Dad’s Garage Theatre Company is a 25-year-old nonprofit theatre that works to transform people, communities and perspectives using laughter. Prior to the pandemic, the theatre performed over 400 live performances that brought joy and laughter to 30,000 people a year. Since March 2020, the theatre company has produced digital performances and streamed over 770 hours of content with over 65,000 views. In addition to “Black Nerd,” the theatre company has produced other social justice comedies for the new year.
