Quality Care For Children Welcomes Six New Board Members

Quality Care for Children (QCC) today announced that Angela Melton has joined the nonprofit as the Vice President of Early Care and Learning and that it is adding six new members to its board of directors. QCC welcomes Jayson Hill, Associate Vice President with North Highland; William Hudson, Senior Corporate Counsel with Chick-fil-A; Scott Lyon, Regional Vice President of Sales with Anaplan; Ben Pivar, Senior Vice President & Chief Information Officer with Carter’s, Inc.; Alexandra Peurach, Partner with Troutman Pepper LLC: and Unn Werner, community volunteer and early childhood education advocate.

They all bring a passion for ensuring Georgia’s young children have access to high-quality education opportunities and care,” said Quality Care for Children’s Chief Executive Officer and President Pam Tatum. “We are thrilled to have their expertise and energy as we continue our efforts to make affordable learning and child care available to all of our state’s children and families while supporting Georgia’s child care workers who are providing the high-quality care children need to thrive later in life.”

Jayson Hill is an Associate Vice President for North Highland Consulting where he serves in multiple leadership capacities and serves advisory services to several of North Highland’s Fortune 500 Retail, Consumer Products, and Logistics clients.

William H. Hudson is Senior Counsel in the legal department of Chick-fil-A, Inc. His practice focuses on the acquisition, disposition, reinvestment, and development of commercial real estate including retail and industrial assets. William primarily focuses on legal representation related to Chick-fil-A Inc.’s retail portfolio in the eastern United States, nationwide development of supply chain industrial real estate, and support for the Cathy Family Office. William attended the University of Southern Mississippi for undergrad and Emory University for law school. 

 Scott Lyon has spent more than 25 years as a software developer and sales leader helping companies improve business performance through technology solutions. He is a frequent presenter at industry organizations and mentors young entrepreneurs. Scott has lived in Atlanta for more than 30 years and has been an active volunteer at his church as well as a number of other non-profit organizations. Scott is looking forward to helping advance opportunities for our future generations with high quality and accessible child care.

Angela Melton brings a wealth of experience in education leadership, early childhood education and administration, teacher training, and in program and initiative development and management. Angela most recently served in various roles with the Child Care Resource & Referral System (CCR&R) for Bright From The Start: Georgia Dept of Early Care and Learning.

Ben Pivar has 25 years of experience in retail, consumer products, merchandising, supply chain and information technology, of which 15 years have been in leadership roles. He has won several awards including the 2018 CIO of the Year from Retail Information Systems and a 2017 Tech Association of Georgia Excalibur award. He is currently responsible for creating the vision and roadmap for IT while managing project delivery, applications, security, infrastructure, desktop, business integration and support for Carters Inc.

 Alexandra Peurach is a commercial litigator with Troutman Pepper Hamilton Sanders LLP in Atlanta, Ga.  She represents her clients in complex, high-stakes commercial disputes across the country. Her most demanding clients, however, are her two young children, Reese (4) and Wes (1).  As a working mom, Alex is passionate about ensuring access to quality and affordable child care. In her spare time, Alex enjoys spending time with her children and her husband, Matt. She also loves travel, skiing, pickle ball, and University of Michigan sports. 

 Unn Werner is a special education teacher who moved to Atlanta from Sweden with her four kids and husband Oscar almost two years ago. Unn's passion for quality childcare comes partly from her work in Special Education where she has seen the importance of education for all, but also as a mother in Sweden where childcare is free and has the same quality for everyone. Unn enjoys exploring new cultures and having fun adventures, like skiing, with her family.
