West Point Cadets to Lead Atlanta Workshop

Tuesday, February 16th, 2021

Local Georgia cadets from the U.S. Military Academy will virtually lead a West Point Leadership and Ethics workshop on February 20.

Over 50 Atlanta area middle and high schools were invited to participate in this virtual event. Students will be challenged to lead diverse groups, solve problems, and make values-based decisions in a friendly atmosphere.

The workshop focuses on leadership, values, and ethics, problem-solving, moral-reasoning, and decision-making processes. The goals of the workshops are to provide participants with an opportunity to develop leadership and teambuilding skills; to reinforce the importance of ethical leadership in an increasingly technology-driven world; to promote ethics; to underscore the importance of competent and diverse leadership in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

West Point cadets provide mentorship for students in underserved and underrepresented neighborhoods with limited access to STEM; inspire them to be ethical leaders and pursue STEM academic opportunities; encourage them to attend college and introduce them to the opportunities at West Point.

The following local area cadets are expected to participate:
  • Marquel Broughton, Class of 2023, Lawrenceville, Ga.
  • Denver Jackson, Class of 2023, Atlanta, Ga.
