Britt Fleck, Regional Director for Metro West at Georgia Power is representing the company and her community as the Chair-Elect of the Cobb County Chamber of Commerce and the Chair of the Cobb Chamber’s COVID-19 Economic Recovery Task Force.
As the chair of the chamber beginning in 2022, Fleck will also lead the chamber’s governing body consisting of 91 voting board members, including a 21-member executive committee, representing the county’s diverse populations, geographies and industries.
At the Cobb Chairman’s Circle event that brought together the county’s top business, government and civic leaders on March 1st, she highlighted several accomplishments of Georgia Power and the county’s recovery task force.
“At Georgia Power, we recognized that the pandemic caused challenges for our customers. We suspended disconnects early on and offered special payment plans to assist customers that needed extra time paying their monthly bills,” said Fleck. “We also connected customers in need with The Salvation Army’s Project SHARE program, the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and the United Way. Our energy assistance teams also worked with local nonprofits and community organizations to help those in need.”
Through her work as the chair of the economic recovery task force, Fleck also worked with a team to champion solutions to help local businesses and families in Cobb County.
“We created a needs assessment survey to understand and prioritized the greatest challenges and created 19 training webinars for business recovery assistance,” she said. “We’ve also provided ongoing resources including a COVID-19 website with 20,000 visitors and a re-opening guideline toolkit that supported 1,400 business leaders.”
On Monday, March 8th, Fleck will present on behalf of the Cobb County Chamber of Commerce at Marquee Monday during the “State of the County” address. She will cover the reliability of Georgia Power’s grid and what the company is doing to promote social justice.
