Emory University’s Goizueta Business School has announced a $5 million endowment from Rosemary and John Brown to establish the Rosemary and John Brown Family Scholars Program. Designed to afford opportunity and increase enrollment of women across Goizueta’s graduate programs, the Brown Family Scholars Program will provide scholarships to Agnes Scott and Spelman College alumnae enrolled in Goizueta’s graduate programs. 

 With women earning 57 percent of all undergraduate degrees but just 38 percent of Master of Business Administration degrees (Center for American Progress) and holding only 7.4 percent of top leadership roles at Fortune 500 companies (Fortune 500 research), the goal of this program is to increase representation of women in business.  

Agnes Scott College President Leocadia I. Zak commented, “I am thrilled about the opportunities that the Brown Family Scholars Program affords to our alumnae. This gift reinforces our deep commitment to ensuring the professional success of all Agnes Scott students. I am grateful for the Browns’ generosity and commitment to women’s education.”

The Brown Family Scholars Program aligns with Agnes Scott's Professional Success Initiative, recently affirmed by the Board of Trustees as part of the college’s Pathway to Success, the 2021-2026 strategic plan. This initiative provides students with the resources and opportunities needed for success in their professional, civic and personal lives and will be bolstered by the college’s upcoming Center for Student Discovery and Professional Success.

The Brown Family Scholars Program also furthers Agnes Scott’s commitment to collaborate with leading business schools in metro Atlanta to develop the interests of our undergraduates. Agnes Scott’s Women’s Bridge to Business partnership with Georgia Tech’s Scheller College of Business is currently in its tenth year.

The Brown Family Scholars Program will begin to award scholarships this fall.
