Georgia Power employees are making a difference in their community this spring. In celebration of Easter recently, employees in the Gwinnett chapter and corporate office chapters of the Citizens of Georgia Power – the employee volunteer arm of the company – provided baskets for boys and girls at local children’s homes.
The employees from the Gwinnett chapter donated 26 baskets for children ages five months to 11 years old at the Home of Hope at Gwinnett Children’s Shelter in Buford. Employees from the corporate office chapter donated five baskets for the residents at the Christian City Children’s Home in Union City. Included in the basket were tickets to the Georgia Aquarium, as well as special sweet treats. Gifts were accepted by new house parents Kelvin and Jacqueline Parker.
With more than 40 chapters statewide, Citizens of Georgia Power gives back to their local communities through in-person and virtual volunteer projects, fundraisers, and donations. In 2020, Citizens’ members logged more than 55,000 hours of service equal to $1.5 million.
