Cultural Ambassador Myrna Clayton Presents 4th Annual International Jazz Day With International Performing Artists

Tuesday, May 11th, 2021

Establishing a tradition on International Jazz Day, Cultural Ambassador Myrna Clayton is presenting a rich diversity of international Jazz performances virtually on Friday, April 30, 2021 -- highlighting artists from around the globe, who are based in Atlanta, Georgia.

In the Jazz community of Atlanta, and the Southeast, this distinguished international "coming together" for the love and artistry of Jazz is a celebration in and of itself.

"We began this concept as an 'Atlanta Jazz Jam', where Jazz artists who have a base in Atlanta, but whose culture/heritage originates from Brazil -- or Japan -- or Europe -- could gather and perform," Ms Clayton explains. "Determined to keep our eyes on a near future where we'll be able to once again perform live, this year's 'Jazz Jam' will happen virtually -- but powerfully.

"In celebrating Jazz with the world on this day, we are presenting the 'best of the best' performances of a wide range of international Jazz artists from past jam sessions, and requesting a nominal ticket fee, to support our efforts.

"It is our stand that music heals and soothes the soul. As musicians, we are a special category of 'essential workers', and the world -- and Atlanta -- needs the healing, unifying elixir of music now more than ever."

The 'Jazz Jam' concert of performances will be offered at 7pmEST on International Jazz Day this Friday, April 30, 2021.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization ( UNESCO ) designated International Jazz Day  to "highlight jazz and its diplomatic role of uniting people in all corners of the globe." (credit:  https://jazzday.com/about/)
