Northside Hospital Recognized Again for Heart Attack Care

Northside Hospital Atlanta, Northside Hospital Cherokee and Northside Hospital Forsyth have once again earned The Joint Commission’s (TJC) Gold Seal of Approval® for Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI) Disease-Specific Care Certification. This is the third consecutive survey that Northside has received the national distinction for heart attack care.
 
According to the American Heart Association, someone in the United States has a heart attack approximately every 39 seconds. From the moment 911 is called, to when first responders arrive, how long it takes to get to the hospital and how long before treatment is administered – every minute matters.
 

TJC Gold Seal of Approval® is a symbol of quality that reflects a health care organization’s commitment to providing safe and quality patient care. The certification recognizes organizations that provide clinical programs across the continuum of care for heart attacks.

“With this achievement of AMI Disease Specific Certification, it demonstrates Northside Hospital’s commitment and dedication to providing its community with timely access to the highest quality cardiovascular care,” said Margaret Henry, clinical director of Northside Hospital's cardiology service line.

At Northside Hospital, a team of board-certified, fellowship-trained interventional cardiologists, cardiac-trained nurses and technologists has the highest level of expertise in diagnosing and treating cardiac conditions like heart attacks, coronary artery disease, congenital heart defects and heart failure. They offer a wide range of diagnostic, treatment and support services including PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention) for STEMI (ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction). 

Working alongside the hospital's Emergency Department staff, the cardiology team collaborates with local EMS providers to ensure that patients receive timely access to high-quality care.

In addition to the Disease-Specific Certification for AMI, Northside also was recognized for providing high quality cardiovascular care through the American Heart Association Mission: Lifeline and Get With The Guidelines® programs.
