The Heritage Community Foundation raised more than $15,000 via its sixth annual golf classic in June and awarded grants to eight non-profit organizations in Henry, Fayette, and Clayton counties.

“Some folks say the best golf partners are people who play worse than you, but we believe the best ones are those who help you raise money to support local non-profits,” said Rod Chavez, Executive Director, Heritage Community Foundation. “The money raised from this tournament helps us provide financial and leadership support to eight qualified non-profit organizations in Henry, Fayette, and Clayton counties that address many needs in our community. We are grateful to the people and organizations that sponsored, played in, or donated to the classic and enabled us to make these grants.”

From the money raised at the tournament, the Foundation presented grants to the following organizations:

  • $1,500 to Amazing Grace Community Resource Center towards a food pantry refrigerator

  • $1,500 to Open Arms Outreach for their Youth Against Childhood Hunger Program

  • $1,996 to Clearwater Academy towards a technology center

  • $2,500 to Fayette Senior Services towards purchase of a handicap accessible vehicle to

transport senior citizens to non-emergency medical appointments

  • $3,000 to Fayette Pregnancy Resource Center to provide car seats to 40 expectant mothers

who took a child safety class

  • $5,000 to Community Outreach in Action towards a food pantry

  • $5,000 to United Food Force to purchase a forklift for pantry warehouse operations

  • $5,000 to Midwest Food Bank to provide food in bulk to other non-profits to distribute after a

    tornado struck several Georgia counties

The Heritage Community Foundation began its work in 2015 as an initiative of Heritage Bank employees with a mission of supporting and reinforcing the good work being done by non-profit groups in the bank’s service area. The Foundation has provided more than $696,000 in grants to more than 150 non- profit groups and agencies in Henry, Clayton, and Fayette counties since that time. It raises funds through an annual golf tournament in the spring and a clay shoot in the fall. In addition to support from

Heritage Bank and individuals in the community, many local businesses support the Heritage Community Foundation as IMPACT Partners. The Heritage Community Foundation is a 501(c) organization. Heritage Bank pays 100% of its operation costs so all donations can benefit local non-profit groups. Heritage Bank is a division of Heritage Southeast Bank and has been serving Metro Atlanta’s Southern Crescent since 1955.
