East Point Mayor Deana Holiday Ingraham Qualifies for Re-Election “It’s Our Time”

Friday, August 20th, 2021

On Monday, Mayor Deana Holiday Ingraham qualified for a second term as mayor of East Point, Georgia.  Mayor Holiday Ingraham is completing her first term as mayor, following four years as a member of the city council.  The mayor received more than 60% of the vote in 2017 and looks to build on the momentum of her first term, which included leading the 2020 Census project for East Point. The effort resulted in East Point’s recorded population increasing by approximately 5,000, which will bring in nearly $11 million per year for the next 10 years.

“My service to East Point is about making an impact. I started on Council by championing a $15 hour minimum wage for city employees, establishing the Joint Learning Committee to support our schools and youth and hosting annual Golden Age Resource Fairs for seniors. As mayor, I fought for CARES Act funding and secured grant funds totaling over $1 million to provide for utilities, rent, and mortgage assistance, fortified our community with $14.9 million in street repaving and sidewalk installations and prioritized continued investments in safety. We have planted the seeds for success, now it’s our time to begin harvesting,” declared Mayor Holiday Ingraham.

The campaign is endorsed by several elected and community leaders. Former Mayor Patsy Jo Hilliard, former Councilmember and State Representative Joe Heckstall and former Councilmember Greg Fann join State Representatives William Boddie, Kim Schofield, and David Dreyer and State Senators Nan Orrock and Sonya Halpren along with Vice Chair Fulton County Commissioner Natalie Hall and Commissioner Khadijah Abdur-Rahman and East Point Councilmember Thomas Calloway as elected officials who are endorsing Holiday Ingraham. Community leaders representing every ward in the City of East Point, including but not limited to, Melissa George (Ward A) Joel Tucker (Ward B) Sondra Rhoades Johnson (Ward C), and Gloria Jenkins (Ward D.)

Mayor Holiday Ingraham continued, “I am honored to have so many people stand with me.  I have always put East Point first.  Through relentless people-focused leadership, strategic partnerships and intentionality East Point is positioned for unprecedented growth, redevelopment, and federal investment.  I am the proven leader for this time, for our community and for the people. East Point, it’s OUR time! I look forward to earning every possible vote and continuing to lead, with integrity, to a brighter, equitable and inclusive future.”
