Georgia Power Employees Recognized for Support of Children’s Haven in Canton

Georgia Power employees that participate in the Citizens of Georgia Power volunteer chapter in the Cherokee County area were recently recognized for their continuous support of the local community.

Lisa Santos, a senior support specialist at Georgia Power and a member of the company’s Metro West Citizens chapter, accepted an award from Children’s Haven in Canton for the company’s support of a new playground – including an investment of funds and volunteers – at the facility. Supported by the local Citizens of Georgia Power chapter, Children’s Haven provides children who have faced abuse a safe and nurturing environment. Santos accepted the award on behalf of Georgia Power with city and Cherokee County officials and local community leaders present to commemorate the event.

With more than 40 chapters statewide, Citizens of Georgia Power - the employee volunteer arm of the company – gives back to their local communities through in-person and virtual volunteer projects, fundraisers, and donations. In 2020, Citizens’ members logged more than 55,000 hours of service equal to $1.5 million.
