On Monday, Oct. 4, 2021 the city of Peachtree Corners will welcome Mr. Louis E. Svehla as the city’s new Director ofCommunications. This announcement follows the retirement of long-time, respected Communications Director, Ms. Judy Putnam, who has served the city since 2014.

Svehla joins the Peachtree Corners team, bringing with him a wealth of experience in journalism, communication, community and governmental relations. Svehla most recently served as the Public Information Manager for the Walton County Board of County Commissioners, in DeFuniak Springs, FL, beginning his tenure in 2012. Prior to that position, Svehla served as the Public Information Director for the Richmond County School System in Augusta, GA, from 2008-2012.

“The opportunity to hire an individual with as diverse a background and experience as Mr. Svehla is a fantastic opportunity for not only the city government, but for our residents and businesses,” said City Manager Brian Johnson. “While we are sad to be losing Judy as a member of our team, we look forward to working with Louis to continue to build on our strong history of communication and partnership with the community.

A native Georgian, Svehla attended Evans High School in Evans, GA. Following graduation, he attended Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville, GA, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication. Over his career, Svehla has worked in both the public and private sector and is looking forward to moving back to his home state.

The Communications Director for Peachtree Corners is responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating communications to provide information to the public. Svehla will be accountable as the point of contact for all media requests received by the city, elected officials, and internal personnel; maintaining guidelines, continuity, and consistent updates to social media sites and websites; and coordinating communications with the public through various platforms.
