Works on Paper by Artist Peter Selgin at Marlor House

Allied Arts invites the community to an exhibition of paintings and prints by local artist Peter Selgin. The work will be on display from September 20 through October 8 in the Marlor House. There will be a virtual gallery available on our website: www.milledgevillealliedarts.com. Masks are required and physical distancing is recommended.

Peter Selgin is an award-winning author, playwright, painter, illustrator, and graphic artist. His short fiction collection, Drowning Lessons, won the 2007 Flannery O’Connor Award for Fiction. He has published a novel, a book of essays, three books on the craft of fiction writing, and a children’s picture book. His memoir, The Inventors, won the 2017 Housatonic Book Award and was among Library Journal’s Best Books of 2016. His stories and essays have appeared in many magazines and anthologies, including Best American Essays and Best American Travel Writing.

Selgin’s paintings have been featured at the Bridgewater-Lustberg Gallery in Soho and the Frank J. Miele Gallery, as well as other galleries in New York City and elsewhere. He has work in many private collections and in the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, England.

His illustrations have appeared in the New Yorker, The Wall Street Journal, Outside, Forbes,Gourmet, Italian Food and Wine, and many other publications. Other illustration clients have included Volkswagen, British Airways, Canon Corporation, Merrill-Lynch, Rolling Stone, Banker’s Trust, Virgin Atlantic, Burberry’s of London, IBM, and American Express. His children’s picture book, S.S. Gigantic Across the Atlantic (Simon & Schuster, 1999), which he wrote and illustrated, was a Scholastic Book Club Main Selection.

Community members can view the exhibit by making appointments to visit between September 20 and October 8. As always, the Marlor House is free to visit. Many of pieces of the exhibit will be available for purchase and unframed prints are available. Masks are required and physical distancing is recommended.
