Second Helpings Atlanta welcomes Juliet Eden to the position of marketing and outreach coordinator. Eden’s appointment follows a trend of recent college graduates who are pursuing careers in nonprofit leadership, particularly in the areas of food insecurity and sustainability.

“We are thrilled to welcome Juliet to the team” said Andrea Jaron, executive director of Second Helpings Atlanta. “Her passion for sustainability and driving out hunger will help us continue to do the good work we do.”

Eden was most recently the Food Matters Intern in the City of Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Resilience. Prior to that she was the Sustainability Intern with the City of Decatur’s Department of Public Works and before that she was Project Manager of Ponix, an urban, vertical hydroponic farm. Eden graduated from the University of Georgia, where she was director of communications for Fair Fight U. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Ecology from the university's Odum School of Ecology.

Second Helpings Atlanta has seen a major spike in need throughout the pandemic. The organization rescues an average of 300,000 pounds of surplus fresh, perishable food every month from 75+ food donors and delivers it to more than 70 homeless shelters, food pantries, domestic violence shelters and other nonprofits across the Atlanta metropolitan area. This summer, the organization partnered with the City of Atlanta, HelloFresh and Pratt Industries to provide 8,000 meals per week to those facing food insecurity in Atlanta. The goal of the Meals with Meaning program is to provide access to fresh, nutritious food, distributing over 400,000 meals through 2022.
