David Sparacio Joins Ameris Bank as EVP, Corporate Controller

Ameris Bank Chief Financial Officer Nicole Stokes announces the hiring of David Sparacio as executive vice president, corporate controller. In this role, Sparacio will be responsible for the oversight of the accounting functions, including core accounting, mortgage accounting, specialty lines accounting, accounts payable, the monthly close process as well as other corporate accounting responsibilities. 

“David not only has tremendous experience in banking, but he also is a strong, seasoned leader.” said Stokes. “We are fortunate to have him on our team and we look forward to his future here at Ameris.”

Prior to joining Ameris Bank, Sparacio notably worked for First Horizon Corporation (formerly IBERIABANK) for nine years and led merger and acquisition efforts for the accounting team through seven bank acquisitions, increasing total assets from $17 billion to $30 billion. His latest role was senior vice president and director of accounting where he had direct responsibility for 40 associates within the accounting operations function, including accounting systems, procurement, vendor risk management, accounts payable, account reconciliations, fixed assets, cost allocations and acquisition support. In all, Sparacio brings more than 25 years of accounting experience within the financial and banking industries.

Sparacio earned his accounting degree from the University of New Orleans, his Master of Business Administration from Loyola University and his Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. He currently serves the U.S. Army in a reserve status as the assistant chief of staff, G8 (finance officer), which is the principal advisor to the commanding general on all financial management operations and functions. Additionally, Sparacio is responsible for the development and execution of funds control processes for the 84th Training Command, supervising a staff of both military and civilian personnel. He is also a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom (2010) and Operation Desert Storm/Shield (1990).
