Department of City Planning launches Creative Bike Parking application
Tuesday, November 30th, 2021
The Department of City Planning’s Love Our Places program (formally known as the Placemaking program) will provide an opportunity for high-impact areas to have creative bike parking throughout Atlanta. Applications are now being accepted through December 31, 2021.
Love Our Places uses low cost, high impact interventions as a tool for residents and community organizations to create public spaces in their communities. The initiative aims to re-design Atlanta’s streets through tactical urbanism. Past projects range from artistic crosswalks to parking spaces redesigned as on-street dining.
“We must reexamine the way that we look at transportation. Creative bike parking will increase Atlantan’s options for transportation, support sustainable lifestyles and reflect community identity through interpretive art,” said Commissioner of City Planning Tim Keane.
Bike corrals or sidewalk-level bike parking structures will include amenities like bike racks, asphalt art, and bike repair stations and will be awarded through a competitive application process. Awardees can expect to have bike corrals installed beginning in Spring 2022.
