Georgia Power Employees Donate Four Boxes of Company Clothing for Community Recycling Effort
Tuesday, November 30th, 2021
Georgia Power employees from the Community & Economic Development group and the Citizens of Georgia Power volunteer chapter in Columbus recently donated four boxes of old company shirts and uniforms to Re:Loom, a program of the Initiative for Affordable Housing, a nonprofit organization in Decatur, Georgia.
With the donations, employees at the weave house are able to create upcycled items including runner’s reflective cuff, beltline bags, coasters, and business card holders that are then sold in the community as gifts.
With more than 40 chapters statewide, Citizens of Georgia Power - the employee volunteer arm of the company – gives back to their local communities through in-person and virtual volunteer projects, fundraisers, and donations. In 2020, Citizens’ members logged more than 55,000 hours of service equal to $1.5 million.
