Headline: As Eviction Rates Surge, Nonprofit Turns to Social Media to Fundraise to Help Keep Pets Safe As Their Families Seek New Housing

This Month, nonprofit Paws Between Homes is using social media to launch a holiday campaign to get as many pets as possible into foster homes by January.

Serving low-income households in metro Atlanta, Paws Between Homes (a non-profit 501c3)  believes that when people get back on their feet in new housing, they should be able to do so as a complete family. That means no furry family members are left behind.

  • Eviction rates in Atlanta are about to surge again. That affects humans — but also leads to the surrender of hundreds of family pets to area animal shelters each year.
  • Their social media has been exploding as pet owners seek to avoid giving up their furry family members.

For many nonprofits, raising money for their causes is a challenge, but organizations like Paws Between Homes -- which generally have little budget for fundraising -- can use Facebook’s fundraising features to great effect. PBH has raised $40,000 this way to help scores of Atlanta pets.

“A Home for the Holidays” Campaign
Paws Between Homes wants to get as many pets as possible into foster homes by January.

  • Creates community engagement and fundraising support via its Facebook page
  • PBH provides all food, supplies, and veterinary care for the pets in our custody.  We also need fosters who can provide space in their homes and hearts for a dog or cat for up to 90 days until the owner is able to reclaim them
  • Immediate notifications alerting its 2.1K followers to temporary foster home needs for pets of Atlanta residents who are being evicted or otherwise losing their housing
  • Utilizing the Facebook fundraising tool, many Georgians surpass their designated goals
