Sunday Night Lane Closures on I-285 at I-675 for Bridge Rehabilitation Project

Friday, January 7th, 2022

Georgia Department of Transportation contractors will install lane closures in the proximity of the bridge at the I-675/I-285 interchange in DeKalb County this weekend to continue rehabilitation activities on the bridge.

Weather and on-site conditions permitting one left lane will be closed on I-285 eastbound and westbound between the I-285/I-675 interchange and SR 42/Moreland/Fort Gillem exit (approximately one mile) beginning 8 p.m. on Sunday, January 9 until 5 a.m. on Monday, January 10.

These closures are needed to ensure the safety of drivers and workers as crews continue extensive bridge repair and rehabilitation. Rehabilitation includes raising the structures’ vertical clearance, bridge deck preservation (with polymer overlay), painting of steel beams, joint replacement where necessary and stabilizing the superstructures and sub-structures. The $1.56 million project is scheduled for completion in October 2022.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and use signed detours, exercise caution and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones. Before heading out get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions. Call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app.
