Atlanta Adoption Saves Dogs and Men
Friday, February 25th, 2022
Canine CellMates, a nonprofit aiding incarcerated men and shelter dogs, holds adoptions this month with dogs who have received training from the Beyond the Bars program (a training program to offer previously-incarcerated men and vulnerable dogs a second chance).
Founded in 2013 by Susan Jacobs-Meadows, Canine CellMates has improved the community with recidivism and animal welfare efforts for almost a decade. Now, Canine CellMates is making history with the Beyond the Bars program as the first pre-trial diversion program of its kind in the United States.
There are 12 loving animals to adopt via Canine CellMates: Bronco, Bubbles, Blossom, Buttercup, Gremlin, Griffin, Hershey, Jake, Jazzy, Tundra, Zephyr and Zonda. All of the dogs available are well-trained and have great love to give. More information can be found here.
According to National Geographic, shelter dogs are more vulnerable than ever due to lack of staff and national all-time low adoption rates. The Atlanta community has the chance to come together to help dogs and men rehabilitate.
