Helping Mamas Names Stephanie Ungashick Director of Advancement

Friday, February 25th, 2022

With one in three families experiencing diaper insecurity, Helping Mamas is growing its team to meet demand. The organization has hired Stephanie Ungashick as director of advancement to raise funds and awareness for Georgia’s only baby supply bank. A proven nonprofit leader, Stephanie brings 30 years of experience in marketing, development, communications, event planning and volunteer resource management to this newly created position at Georgia's only baby supply bank.

“We are thrilled to welcome a long-time friend and colleague to our growing team,” said Jamie Lackey, founder and CEO of Helping Mamas. “Stephanie’s experience will help us continue to support families in need and expand on the good work we do.”

Ungashick brings a rich history in both the for- and non-profit sectors, which will be invaluable in cultivating donors, forging strategic alliances and raising awareness. Most recently, she was senior director of mission advancement for the Catholic Charities. Prior to that she was marketing director for Persium Group. She was also a teacher, directed communications for the Georgia Manufactured Housing Association and was the director of communication and marketing for the College and University Personnel Association as well.

“Access to diapers is a jobs issue” said Lackey. “We want to help women get back to work so that they can support their families with dignity.”

The pandemic has highlighted the significant disparities between men and women in the workforce. Even as women were making great strides prior to the pandemic, they remain largely responsible for childcare, and therefore have been slower to return to their jobs. With decreased household incomes, many cannot afford to buy the diapers that are required to access childcare facilities.

Helping Mamas today works with over 150 partner agencies across Georgia to supply mothers in need of essential items. In 2021, Helping Mamas served over 50,000 people with more than one million baby supply and period care products.
