Partnership Gwinnett, in collaboration with the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) Foundation, honored the recipients of the Student-Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) Awards. This event, presented by Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, was held at the John C. Maxwell Leadership Center at 12Stone Church®. In 2022, 44 students from 31 Gwinnett schools, both public and private, were awarded the STAR designation.

“It’s our honor to celebrate these exceptional Gwinnett County students and teachers each year,” said Adam Forrand, Vice President of Education, Talent & Leadership Development at Partnership Gwinnett. “Partnership Gwinnett recognizes the importance of education and leadership development in retaining qualified workforce for the jobs we are recruiting to the community. The STAR program serves as a foundational component to training up talent for the jobs and opportunities that lay ahead, and we congratulate these amazing students and teachers for this notable achievement.” 

From the 44 STAR designees, system winners are named to compete at the regional and statewide level for the Georgia PAGE STAR student and teacher award. This year’s system winners in Gwinnett who will move on to compete for the state title are James “Jimmy” Rogation and teacher Lisa Cole from Buford High School, and Chungin “Roy” Lee and teacher Adam Sherman from Peachtree Ridge High School. 

Since its creation, the STAR program has honored nearly 28,000 students and teachers. High school seniors must have the highest score on a single test date on the SAT and be in the top 10 percent or top ten students of their class based on grade point average.
