Tiny Doors ATL Debuts First Buckhead Installations This Week at Piedmont Center
Tuesday, March 15th, 2022
Tiny Doors ATL, the seven-inch door structures created by local artist Karen Anderson Singer, is making its Buckhead debut with the installation of two new tiny doors at Piedmont Center, the two million-square-foot, Class-A campus along Piedmont Road. The doors, which are currently being installed, bring Tiny Doors ATL to a total of 24 public installations throughout metro Atlanta.
Located between Buildings 1 and 4, the first tiny door features clean, modern lines and incorporates elements from Piedmont Center’s branding. Additionally, the door will include a dynamic, augmented reality feature that invites visitors and tenants to interact with the installation. The second tiny door, located in the courtyard of Buildings 5-8, pays tribute to Piedmont Center’s lush landscape, expansive outdoor area and tree canopy. This installation also showcases a walking trail leading up to the door – a nod to the 1.2 mile nature trail surrounding the campus.
“Piedmont Center is an inspiring location for tiny public art and these new installations are reflective of its unique, collaborative working environment,” says Singer. “I've included natural elements found on the Piedmont Center campus like native trees and walking paths. The most exciting component is the new augmented reality feature in which the tiny door will open before your eyes, and what's behind them is a surprise for when you visit.”
The doors come as part of The Ardent Companies’ (Ardent’s) ongoing transformation of Piedmont Center into a highly connected and amenitized mixed-use destination. After beginning its investment into Piedmont Center in 2016, Ardent completed its acquisition of the entire campus, which spans 14 buildings, in June 2021. Recent improvements include state-of-the-art upgrades to building lobbies, conference rooms, fitness centers and exterior enhancements. A bridge connection to adjacent properties is also planned in order to enhance the walkability to nearby amenities such as housing, retail and restaurants. In addition to the tiny doors, Ardent has prioritized infusing artful experiences throughout the property with several murals created by local artists.
“Tiny Doors ATL has captured the hearts of thousands of Atlantans and has become a staple for the city,” says Mike Guynn, managing director for Ardent. “Whether you’re running to a meeting, taking a lunch break, or enjoying an outdoor stroll, we know these pieces of art will bring smiles to every face as they walk by. We’re excited to welcome Tiny Doors ATL to campus and look forward to the joy they will bring to Piedmont Center.”
Since 2014, Tiny Doors ATL has brought big wonder to public spaces with interactive and accessible art installations around metro Atlanta. Inspired by the ongoing conversation around street art, artist Karen Anderson Singer uses her life-long love of miniatures to create an experiential art installation that reflects unique elements of the space or surrounding community. Tiny Doors ATL has gained traction from all over the world, with thousands of locals and tourists visiting every year and more than 600,000 views of the online map. The installations are always free to the public and accessible for all ages. For more information and to interact with the doors, visit the tiny website.
