Job-seekers -especially those in the Newton and Walton county areas- will soon be able to meet face-to-face with their possible future employers. Georgia Piedmont Technical College, the Newton County Chamber, Newton Industrial Development Authority, and the Walton County Development Authority are partnering to put on a regional job fair Tuesday, April 12. The event will take place at the Conference Center (Building D) at Georgia Piedmont’s Newton campus from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. The Conference Center is located at 8100 Bob Williams Parkway in Covington.

Due to the number of opportunities and hiring trends in the manufacturing, logistics, and construction fields, this year’s job fair will focus on those industry areas. Besides meeting with potential employers, job-seekers can also pick up a free interview blazer provided by Goodwill of North Georgia. But the incentives don’t stop there.

“This year, we will be giving away free gas cards courtesy of Verizon and Georgia Power,” said Georgia Piedmont Technical College Vice President of Economic Development Dr. Irvin Clark. “We realize filling up the gas tank is an expensive venture these days and we want our participants to know we support them and want to do everything in our power to ensure they find the career of their dreams. This is just one way to show we are invested in them.”

There are expected to be nearly 20 area employers on hand as well as program and enrollment officials from Georgia Piedmont Technical College. For more information, contact Irvin Clark at [email protected] or 404-297-9522 ext. 1829.
