Families across the nation feel constrained by economic hardships caused by the rising cost of food and the global COVID-19 pandemic.  Witherite Law Group, 1-800-TruckWreck, Frank Ski, legendary media personality and philanthropist and Nina Brown, radio veteran and community advocate, both of The Frank Ski Show with Nina Brown, joined together to address these hardships by giving away $50,000 in gift cards to Atlanta families in need for Easter.

Though the event started at 6 a.m., families from across the area began to gather as early as 3 a.m. at the Honey Baked Hams store located at 6175 Old National Highway, Suite 203 in Atlanta.  Gift cards for hams were provided to 500 families, in the lines that were wrapped around the building. The need was so great, that the event sold out in less than two hours.  The event was free, open to the community and registration was not required.

“Though hunger is not easily identified, it is a very real issue for folks from all walks of life,” said Amy Witherite, founder of Witherite Law Group and 1-800-TruckWreck.  “We believe it’s our responsibility to assist our neighbors who experience hunger every day, and I’m encouraged by the number of families we were able to serve at the event today.”

One in eight Georgians experience food insecurity, and though it’s not the sole reason, the current state of our economy heavily contributes to this phenomenon.  Witherite Law Group and 1-800-TruckWreck realize that support is needed year-round.  In addition to Easter, they have supported families during Thanksgiving as well, distributing more than 13,000 turkeys to date.
