Grubbly Farms handed the Atlanta Humane Society a 600-pound gift Thursday morning in the form of a new, sustainable snack. The Atlanta-based pet food company donated 800 bags of Vroomies to the Atlanta Humane Society’s Alpharetta campus. Each bag contains 12 ounces of Vroomies, making for a hefty donation of 600 pounds!
“We are very grateful to receive this donation from Grubbly Farms,” said Lauren Shoff, Manager of Digital, Marketing and Fundraising at the Atlanta Humane Society. “These kinds of bite-sized treats are perfect for our dogs. We have several who are in behavior programs or just need the enrichment when they’re here in the shelter, waiting for their forever families.”
Grubbly Farms first introduced Vroomies to the pet food market earlier this year. The hypoallergenic and easily digestible dog snack is made with farm-fresh vegetables and dried black soldier fly grubs, an insect protein Grubbly’s founders first introduced to the backyard chicken market in 2016. The donation comes at a time when there are hundreds of animals in Atlanta Humane’s care including many enrolled in their Behavior and Training Enrichment Programs who will greatly benefit from delicious, snack-sized treats.
“Vroomies are a grub-based soft chew for dogs that aids in beneficial joint health, said Sean Warner, the co-founder and CEO of Grubbly Farms. “The grub protein itself is hypoallergenic so it can be used for dogs with sensitive stomachs or that are allergic to more common proteins on the market.”
