The Center for the Visually Impaired (CVI) is pleased to announce the addition of one new member and two new officers to our governing board. Each of these board members brings to the CVI mission a passion for making a difference in the lives of individuals who are blind or visually impaired.
CVI welcomes Dr. John Thomas, ophthalmologist, Georgia Vision Institute as the newest member of the board of trustees. Dr. Thomas has extensive skill in managing severe diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, and other retinal disorders. At its annual meeting the board also installed new officers for 2023: James “Scott” Mathews, III, retired community volunteer as Chairman, Montague “Cosmo” Boyd, managing director, The 680 Group as Treasurer, and Jodi Taylor J.D., SHRM-SCP, chief human resources officer, Brasfield & Gorrie as Secretary. Outgoing Board Chairman Andy Kauss, senior counsel, Kilpatrick, Townsend & Stockton LLP, moves to the CVI Foundation board to serve a three-year term. Kauss has served as a trustee for 14 years and as board chair for the past four.
“I am grateful for the knowledge, energy and commitment that John, Scott, Cosmo and Jodi bring to our board,” said Lisa Kennedy, president of CVI. “Additionally, I am grateful for the leadership provided by Andy as we navigated many challenges the past four years and look forward to his continued support through the CVI Foundation. Each of them offers an important perspective regarding the needs of people who are impacted by vision loss. This will be valuable as we launch a new three-year strategic plan to expand and deepen the difference we make for the community.”
