September is Hunger Action Month, and Kroger’s Zero Hunger | Zero Waste Foundation is partnering with the Feeding America network of food banks through a fundraising campaign to “Help End Hunger Here” in our local communities.

Starting today, September 1, thru September 30, Kroger customers can round up their purchase with 100% of their donations going directly to the local Feeding America foodbank affiliate.

The partnership is part of Zero Hunger | Zero Waste, Kroger’s bold social impact plan aimed at creating communities free of hunger and waste.

“Kroger is on a mission to end hunger in the places we call home,” says Felix Turner, manager of corporate affairs for Kroger’s Atlanta Division. “There is a fundamental absurdity in our food system: 35% of the food produced in the U.S. is thrown away, yet an estimated 42 million Americans struggle with hunger.”

According to Feeding America, in 2021, 53 million people turned to food banks and community programs for help putting food on the table.

Nationwide, Kroger has directed a record one-year total of 640 million meals to fight food insecurity and hunger in the United States during the COVID-19 pandemic. At the same time, Kroger associates have rescued 90 million pounds of wholesome food from stores, food processing plants and distribution centers.

“We are excited about our continuing partnership with Feeding America. By working together with our associates, customers and communities we can achieve the vision of Zero Hunger | Zero Waste,” says Turner.
