The Lawrenceville Arts Center, Home of Aurora Theatre, Features Festive Fall Events this October

There's a chill in the air, and spooky seasonal happenings abound! October is one of Aurora Theatre’s favorite months of the year and the regional arts destination is ready to celebrate with all things spooky, silly and festive. The laughs are guaranteed at Mighty Shorts’ show Wet Hot American Psycho, while the historical one-man play Breach of Peace: The Freedom Riders of 1961 will educate audiences on the Grand Stage. Audiences can also experience a toe-tapping musical performance from the best of Music City with Six One Five Collective.
The Lawrenceville arts destination will bring the spirited fun this month with a showing of the family film Hocus Pocus, the 21+ only performance and cocktail hour Spirits and Spirits and the continuation of its famous Lawrenceville Ghost Tours. Audiences are invited to soak in every last bit of Hispanic Heritage Month at the Lawrenceville Arts Center with a variety of events honoring Latin cultures including a Festival del Dia de los Muertos, a celebration of Colombian dance in Danzas Genéricas de Colombia, a musical performance under the stars at Club Babalú: Tribute to Celia Cruz and a showing of the hit Disney-Pixar film Coco. Kids can get their own dose of delightful frights at Arthur Atsma’s Halloween Magic Show and an exciting cultural experience built just for them at A Musical Tour Through Latin America with Havana Son.

Steeped in the Music City mix of country, Americana, folk and pop, the sound of the Six One Five Collective is an undeniable wall of distinctive harmonies and solo voices reminiscent of great American bands like Fleetwood Mac and Little Big Town. Six One Five Collective is composed of award-winning songwriters and artists Jamie Floyd, Michael Logen, Nicole Witt and Sarah Darling— a group of solo artists that has blossomed into one of Music City’s supergroups.
Breach of Peace: The Freedom Riders of 1961

On May 24, 1961, 19-year-old Jean Thompson boarded a Trailways bus in Montgomery, Ala. with 11 other young Freedom Riders bound for New Orleans– and history. This solo play is a living monument to those remarkable young men and women of various races, religions and backgrounds. Breach of Peace is based on true accounts of surviving participants of the Freedom Riders, as well as many other individuals involved in the early struggle for African American equality.

Hocus Pocus follows a villainous, comedic trio of witches who are inadvertently resurrected by a teenage boy in Salem, Mass., on Halloween night. Reminisce about Halloweens gone-by with a cocktail or bring the kids to introduce them to a family-friendly Halloween classic.

Aurora Theatre is serving up haunts with the return of its beloved ghost tours. There are three levels of festive frights for guests to enjoy. The Lawrenceville, Georgia Ghost Tour – the most popular ghost tour in Metro Atlanta – offers a fun, spooky time for all ages on weekends now through Halloween. The Haunted Cemetery Tour gives thrill-seekers a more daring ghost-hunting experience in one of the most haunted cemeteries in the Southeast. Meanwhile, Brews & Boos: Lawrenceville Haunted Pub Crawl takes adults 21 and older on a ghoulish journey where drinks are included!
