Aurora Theatre is kicking off the holiday season with a line-up of festive, fun events this November. Audiences of all ages will discover afternoons of culture with events that include a concert from fusion band Quarteto Nuevo and a Children’s Playhouse show dedicated to international stories of thankfulness at Happy ThanksTelling: World Folktales of Gratitude. Meanwhile, The Boys Are Back cabaret tribute will bring the best boybands from every era together for one night only. Holly jolly laughs are sure to be had at Aurora Theatre’s beloved holiday revue Christmas Canteen and at comedy nights with Mike Albanese. Contemporary Classics will present a re-telling of The Importance of Being Earnest, and the Gwinnett County Public Library makes a stop at the Clyde & Sandra Strickland Grand Stage for its Hooper-Renwick Memorial Author Speaker Series.

From Independent Artists’ Playhouse & Innovative Theatrics LLC, the creative genius behind recent Aurora favorites Men of Motown and Ladies of the 80s, the hottest boy bands from the ‘60s through today are making a comeback. This cabaret tribute to boy bands will feature the iconic smooth vocals and explosive dance moves audiences expect as local artists perform the biggest hits from The Beatles, The Jackson 5, Boyz II Men, *NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, BTS and One Direction.

Mike Albanese, food-obsessed writer and comedian with Gwinnett roots, returns to perform for his hometown crowd! Mike Albanese is a. He is a producer for Atlanta’s famous Red Clay Comedy Festival and can be seen as a recurring character on BET’s hit show The Game, in the 2016 feature film American Dirtbags and on his food-focused YouTube channel EAT MIKE. Mike finds his humor in his internal struggle with health, crippling paranoia and his longing for that perfect girl — with whom he will inevitably blow it.

The Gwinnett County Public Library exists to provide a place and resources for the community to connect, learn and grow. That mission is at the heart of the Hooper-Renwick Memorial Program Fund and Endowment’s principal program, the annual Hooper-Renwick Memorial Author Speaker Series. The series acts as a primary starting point for ongoing conversations in the community with the hope of creating spaces where experiences are shared and necessary cultural change begins to take hold, increasing the opportunity for systemic and institutional change.
