Cushman & Wakefield announced that the commercial real estate services firm has arranged a new 35,500-square-foot (sf) lease at 2135 American Industrial Way for Wheels Up Experience Inc. (NYSE: UP), a private jet charter company who will occupy the entire building. 2135 American Industrial Way is a recently completed adaptive reuse project that transformed a 1964 warehouse into a new creative office space.
Cushman & Wakefield’s Aileen Almassy and Andy Sumlin represented the building ownership, Seven Oaks Company and their partner, Packard Capital, in the lease negotiations. The tenant, Wheels Up, was represented by Robert "Bo" Keatley, John Flack, and David Rubenstein of Savills.
Conveniently located in the Chamblee submarket of Atlanta, 2135 American Industrial Way provides direct access to the Chamblee Rail Trail, which will soon be connected to area retail, restaurants, residences, and the MARTA. The single-story office building is also equipped with a dedicated outdoor space for extensive seating and food trucks, and flexible tenant-controlled HVAC system.
“Chamblee continues to attract a diverse tenant mix that appreciates the adaptive reuse product available in an amenity-rich environment. Its walkability along with direct access to public transportation as well as multiple food and beverage options is a winning package in today’s hyper competitive office market,” said Almassy, Executive Director at Cushman & Wakefield.
Wheels Up will use 2135 American Industrial Way as a Member and Operations Center (MOC) that will be home to more than 350 employees. The facility will house Wheels Up operations, member services, scheduling, dispatch, directors of maintenance, a maintenance call center and other functions.
“We are thrilled to welcome Wheels Up to our 2135 AIW project in Chamblee. It has been a pleasure to get to know this dynamic company and team and are honored that they chose our project to create their state-of-the-art operations center. We are also grateful to the City of Chamblee for embracing our vision for this project and supporting our design and development efforts,” said Andrew Pearson, Principal at Seven Oaks Company.
