City of Atlanta Seeks Comments on Future of Community Media

The City of Atlanta is issuing a Request for Information to seek public input on the future of community media in Atlanta. The City also announced it will hold two public meetings on the topic in the coming weeks.

Through its Request for Information, the City is inviting members of the public to submit their comments on a variety of topics pertaining to community media, also known as public access television. Topics include, but are not limited to:

Purpose, mission and vision for community media in Atlanta
Operational expectations for the operator of community media in Atlanta
Appropriate funding levels for community media in Atlanta
Appropriate funding sources for community media in Atlanta
Required infrastructure and technology to operate community media in Atlanta
Potential partners, to include corporations, nonprofits, academic institutions and others that may be engaged to support community media in Atlanta
The Mayor’s Office of Communications and the Mayor’s Office of Television & Technology will also hold two public meetings at City Hall to solicit further public input:

Wednesday, Jan. 25 – 5:00-7:00 p.m.
Saturday, Feb. 25 – 9:00-11:00 a.m.
Comments submitted through both the Request for Information process and the community meetings will be used to inform a Request for Proposals to operate community media to be issued later this year.
