Swift, Currie, McGhee & Hiers, LLP, announces the addition of eight attorneys in Atlanta during January 2023. These additions continue the firm’s strategic focus on recruiting in the competitive market for legal talent and follow the addition of 13 associates added in the fourth quarter of 2022, as well as the firm’s relocation to larger offices in both Atlanta and Birmingham to accommodate sustained growth.

Ken Sisco brings more than 25 years of experience to the firm’s litigation section representing businesses and insurance carriers in a wide range of matters, including auto and premises liability; construction defect claims, negligence claims against architects and engineers fire loss claims; commercial trucking; high-exposure general liability; and more. In addition to his previous law firm experience, he has served in senior in-house roles with national insurance providers, and he is also registered as a neutral mediator with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution. Sisco has been active with the Georgia Defense Lawyers Association (GDLA) and is a former chair of its Substantive Law Committee for Construction Law. He earned his undergraduate degree from Princeton University and his law degree from Widener University Law School.
Austin Albertson joins the firm’s litigation section and represents clients in personal injury defense, premises liability, general liability, automobile, trucking and transportation litigation. While in law school, he served as a clerk for the First Amendment Clinic in Athens, Ga. and as a law clerk for the Athens Public Defenders Office, as well as was an award-winning advocate for the University of Georgia School of Law’s Mock Trial program. Austin is a recipient and member of the Order of Barristers, a national honorary organization that recognizes excellence in effective oral advocacy. Albertson earned his undergraduate degree from Clemson University and his law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law.
Cydney Barnes joins the firm’s commercial litigation and insurance team and defends corporations, architects, engineers, design-builders and general contractors in all stages of litigation. Prior to joining Swift Currie, she served as a prosecutor with the Gilmer County District Attorney’s office and previously in insurance defense in Alabama. In addition to her previous legal experience, Barnes was an AmeriCorps Service Member in Fannin County, Ga., where she taught women in their homes to help them towards receiving their GEDs and earned the organization’s Service Member of the Year Award. She also previously worked as a remote English teacher for students in South Korea. Barnes earned her undergraduate degree from Dalton State University and her law degree from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University.
Jurie Joyner joins the firm’s workers’ compensation team and focuses her practice on workers’ compensation defense and civil litigation. Prior to joining Swift Currie, she worked as a Superior Court law clerk in the Dublin Judicial Circuit and as a staff attorney for the Henry County Probate Court. While in law school, Joyner gained experience as a NCAA compliance intern at Georgia State University and as a criminal prosecutor under the Third-Year Practice Act at the Bibb-County State Solicitor’s Office. She is a member of the Georgia Asian Pacific American Bar Association and the State Bar of Georgia’s Entertainment and Sports Law Section. Joyner earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and her law degree from the Mercer University School of Law.
Wendy Lewis joins the firm’s workers’ compensation team and focuses her practice on defending insurance companies in workers’ compensation claims. Prior to joining Swift Currie, she worked as a Senior Complex Attorney handling complex criminal cases in Fulton County. Lewis has over a decade of litigation experience, during which she has argued numerous motions in front of Superior Court judges and handled approximately 75 jury trials defending individuals’ Sixth Amendment Constitutional Right to due process and other rights pertaining to the criminal cases. In the community, she volunteers with Atlanta Habitat for Humanity and serves as a mock trial coach for Therrell High School. She earned her undergraduate degree from Georgia State University and her law degree from the West Virginia University College of Law.
Brennan McElhone joins the firm’s workers’ compensation team and represents clients through the challenges of civil litigation. Prior to joining Swift Currie, he served in the Cordele Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office as the Violence Against Women Act assistant district attorney, passionately advocating for victims of domestic violence across hundreds of cases and over 10 jury trials He is an active member of the Georgia Bar’s Young Lawyer’s Division serving on the law school outreach committee, criminal law committee and as the former Middle District Regional Representative. Before beginning his legal career, he was a cultural exchange consultant in China. McElhone earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and his law degree from the Mercer University School of Law.
Malory-Anne Oliver joins the firm’s workers’ compensation team and represents insurance companies, corporations and small businesses. While in law school, she was selected as a member of the Oxford Scholarship Program which allowed her the opportunity to attend Oxford University as a third-year student. She also served as a legal extern with the Middle Georgia Access to Justice Council and clerked at The McAuthur Law Firm. Oliver earned her undergraduate degree from the Georgia College and State University and her law degree from the Mercer University School of Law.
Christopher Wood joins the firm’s coverage and commercial litigation section and represents clients in breach of contract matters, questions and disputes related to insurance coverage and more. He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia’s Construction Law section and serves in the community as a high school mock trial evaluator. Wood earned his undergraduate degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology and his law degree from the Mercer University School of Law.
