Children's Museum of Atlanta Announces June Programming

June is here with a lineup of educational activities and holiday celebrations at Children’s Museum of Atlanta! Guests will be transported to the farm with activities including paper bag animal puppets and a cozy green pasture inspired by the new exhibit, Shaun The Sheep: Flock This Way. Families are invited to kick off Pride Month with papercraft rainbows in the Art Studio and Drag Queen Story Hour. Kiddos can travel the world with United Nations of Play highlighting areas across the globe, including The Bahamas, Germany, Ghana and Pakistan. Little ones can create a Father’s Day Cards in the Art Studio or join in on the Father’s Day Dance Party! Celebrating liberty and freedom for Juneteenth, families are invited to a special Storytime by master storyteller Mama Koku, followed by a Juneteenth Musical Performance by Djoli Kelen. Museum goers can celebrate Eid al Adha with exciting activities such as Henna art and a Garba Dance Performance. June is filled with festive celebrations for all to enjoy!


June Special Programming
Summer on the Farm
Through Thursday, June 29
In honor of the new Shaun the Sheep: Flock This Way exhibit, kiddos will get the opportunity to experience summer on the farm without leaving the city! In Jane’s Innovation Station, guests can build their own farm fit to withstand the England rain. Fan favorite animals will come to life in the Art Studio with paper bag puppets crafts, and the Science Bar will feature activities matching x-rays to the real-life animals while learning about the skeletal system.

Science Bar
Kiddos will get to match animals with their x-rays while learning about the skeletal system, exoskeletons and animals that don’t have bones at all!

Pride Month Celebration
Saturday, June 3 and Sunday, June 4
Children’s Museum of Atlanta is kicking off Pride Month with Drag Queen Story Hour, papercraft rainbows and much more! Families are invited to partake is this joyful celebration for members and allies of the LGBTQIA+ community. Kids can express themselves in the Art Studio by creating their own rainbow and dance to their hearts desire at the CMA On Stage Jam Session. During Storytime, CMA On Stage presents “Red: A Crayon’s Story” by Michael Hall about a blue crayon mistakenly labeled red, aimed to teach children to stay true to themselves.

United Nations of Play
Saturday, June 10
Guests are invited to travel the world without ever leaving Atlanta! United Nations of Play, a celebration of play around the world, will be highlighting The Bahamas, Germany, Ghana and Pakistan. This year with help from community partners, Asante Akuaba will perform a traditional Ghanian dance, Atlanta Junkanoo Group will help instruct kids on creating their very own Traditional Junkanoo headpiece, Sanam Studio Dancers will perform a Pakistan dance and Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta will entertain with a German musical performance. Families are encouraged to learn about different cultures and traditions while partaking in engaging activities.

Father’s Day
Saturday, June 17
In honor of Father’s Day, families are invited to celebrate all the amazing fathers, grandfathers, uncles and father figures that make life so special. The Museum will have extraordinary activities dedicated to dads all day long including a station in the Art Studio where kids can decorate creative cards for the fathers and father-figures in their lives!

Juneteenth
Sunday, June 18
Guests are invited to celebrate liberty and freedom this Juneteenth with Children’s Museum of Atlanta. Attendees will enjoy interactive storytelling by master storyteller Mama Koku at CMA On Stage, followed by an exciting Juneteenth performance! Children will learn about the history of this holiday, while partaking in fun educational activities.

Eid al Adha
Saturday, June 24
With a variety of interactive opportunities, guests can enjoy Eid al Adha with a traditional Garba Dance at CMA On Stage or by heading over to the Art Studio to have Henna hand art painted. Children will also hear "Peg & Cat: The Eid al Adha Adventure" at Storytime, which tells the story of Peg and Cat who learn some surprising things about the holiday tradition while visiting their friends Yasmina and Amir.
